Our story
A Main Street Shop That Tells You the Truth
When a vacationing couple rolled in convinced their transmission was failing, we took the car straight in, found it only needed a tune-up, and said so. That's how we've always worked at Coast Transmission: diagnose first, explain plainly, and never sell a repair your car doesn't need.
Owner Cande Ruiz and our crew handle everything from routine transmission services to tricky drivetrain puzzles, like the Toyota truck running a Chevy motor and transmission that other shops wouldn't touch. We figured it out in under an hour.
You'll find us at 141 Main St in Half Moon Bay, Monday through Friday. Bring us your car, your truck, or your classic. One customer's Impala even left with a hand wash.

What customers say
“They completed the transmission service and diagnosed the brakes the same day. This shop did its due diligence and properly corrected the issues with my car. I was expecting a large bill for the work but they are very reasonable. These are honest family men with a love for what they do. They even hand washed my car.”
“I took my truck here for a transmission service (fluid and filter replacement) and it runs better then when I bought it. The rpms now don't go as high when merging on the freeway and switching gears is smoother in my automatic truck. Cande is also knowledgeable and communicative.”
“We are on vacation and had a issue we thought might be the transmission. Mr. Cande Ruiz the owner took it right in and just needed a good tune up. Thank you sir for your honesty and I highly recommend Coast Transmission.”
